Intel has hinted that the next generation of Bitcoin mining systems could ship with “Intel Inside” stickers.
The company announced plans to discuss the “Bonanza Mine” chip for Bitcoin mining, at its upcoming conference.
Bonanza Mine has been described as an efficient, low-cost ASIC for Bitcoin mining, according to data from documentation signed by three Intel officials.
For now, the program does not indicate whether Intel really plans to deliver Bonanza Mine as a finished product or just as a research project.
Intel has previously announced plans for a blockchain, as well as that they will not include standard processors or graphics cards.
This is not a surprise, considering that Bitcoin mining has long since switched to ASIC.
Intel has not released information on the hash rate, power, or whether the ASIC will be optimized for Bitcoin only.
